Naver Webtoon's Hit IP "The Swordmaster Who Embraced the Stars" Being Developed as a Mobile RPG

Naver Webtoon announced on the 9th that its subsidiary Studio LICO has begun developing a new mobile game based on the intellectual property (IP) of the globally popular webtoon "The Swordmaster Who Embraced the Stars."

The webtoon is a novel comic based on a web novel of the same title. It depicts the growth of a boy from the slums named Vlad, who meets a legendary knight and becomes a swordmaster, and is being serviced to readers around the world in 10 languages, including Korean, English, and Japanese. Its cumulative global views have surpassed 250 million.

The development team plans to recreate the original story and action directing, which built a vast universe as it expanded from web novel to webtoon, as an action role-playing game (RPG) optimized for the mobile environment. While remaining faithful to the original universe, they will add unique in-game settings and expansion elements to deliver a differentiated experience, and enable new users to fully enjoy the core fun of an action RPG. Studio LICO will publish the title, in collaboration with game developer Code Dragon.
