The Daejeon Fire Headquarters has awarded the "Fire Service Long Service Medal" to fire officials who have protected citizens' lives and safety at various disaster sites and have served continuously for 30 years.
The Fire Service Long Service Medal is awarded, in accordance with the "Regulations on the Awarding and Wearing of Medals for Fire Officials," to fire officials who have faithfully served for 30 years or more. It is a system designed to honor the dedication and achievements of uniformed public officials who have safeguarded the field over a long period of time.
A total of 66 people, including those appointed in 1996, are receiving the 30-year long service medal this time. They have quietly fulfilled their duties at various disaster sites such as fires, rescues, and emergency medical services. The long service medal to be awarded consists of a full-size medal and a miniature medal symbolizing 30 years of dedication.
The Daejeon Fire Headquarters plans to award the long service medals individually throughout the year to coincide with the point at which each recipient reaches 30 years of service, focusing not on formal ceremonies but on reflecting on the meaning and value of long service.
Kim Moon-yong, head of the Daejeon Fire Headquarters, said, "I extend my deepest respect and gratitude to all the fire officials who have guarded the field with a sense of duty over the long span of 30 years," adding, "I hope that the dedication of senior officials will become a source of pride for their juniors and a solid foundation for citizens' trust in Daejeon Fire Services."
