Gyeongsan City (Mayor Cho Hyunil) has announced that the adjusted taxi fares and rates will take effect from midnight (00:00) on the 23rd.
This adjustment is in line with the revised Gyeongsangbuk-do taxi fare and rate standards implemented on December 10 last year. Both the base fare and time-based fare have been modified to match the standards set by Gyeongsangbuk-do.

Accordingly, the base fare for a standard taxi has increased from 4,000 won for up to 2 km to 4,500 won for up to 1.7 km, reflecting a 0.3 km reduction in the distance and a 500 won increase in price. The distance fare remains unchanged at 100 won per 97 meters.
However, the time-based fare (applied when driving at 15 km/h or less) has been reduced from 100 won per 31 seconds to 100 won per 30 seconds, a decrease of 1 second.
Meanwhile, the base fare for a large taxi (3 km) has been increased from 5,500 won to 6,000 won, an increase of 500 won. The distance fare remains unchanged at 200 won per 87 meters, and the time-based fare has been reduced from 200 won per 27 seconds to 200 won per 26 seconds, a decrease of 1 second.
The same standards for various surcharges and call fees apply to both standard and large taxis. The late-night surcharge rate and the out-of-boundary surcharge rate, which apply from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m., are both 20%. The surcharge for township and village areas is 300 won, and the call fee is 1,000 won per call.
To develop a taxi fare and rate adjustment plan suited to local conditions, Gyeongsan City began with a meeting with the taxi industry on December 16 last year, followed by the Taxi Fare Complex Surcharge Adjustment Working Committee and the Gyeongsan City Comprehensive Transportation Development Committee. The plan was finally approved at the Gyeongsan City Price Stabilization Committee on the 28th of last month, with implementation set for the 23rd.
To minimize inconvenience to citizens due to the taxi fare and rate adjustment, the city plans to promote the changes through its official website, digital billboards in towns and villages, and distribution of information leaflets. For the time being, taxi fare and rate charts will be provided in taxis to ensure accurate fare collection.
Additionally, this decision aims to alleviate the management difficulties of the taxi industry and improve the working conditions of taxi drivers. The city will also provide training on customer service and legal compliance for taxi industry workers to further enhance the quality of taxi services.
