On February 2, SK Rent-a-Car announced that it will be the first in the industry to implement a "Free Emergency Charging Service for Electric Vehicles" to further enhance customer satisfaction and convenience for electric vehicle users.

The core of this service is that, in emergency situations where it is difficult to reach a nearby charging station due to battery depletion or discharge while operating an electric vehicle, the Emergency Roadside Service (ERS) will provide immediate on-site battery charging. This service is available to SK Rent-a-Car customers who have rented Hyundai electric vehicles, and it covers all Hyundai electric vehicle models.

The free emergency charging service for electric vehicles provided by SK Rent-a-Car utilizes a vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) charging method, directly connecting one vehicle to another. Through 15kW rapid charging, approximately 70 kilometers of driving range can be secured with just about 15 minutes of charging, significantly reducing the inconvenience and time previously required to tow a discharged vehicle to a charging station. This service is offered free of charge up to five times per year and can be accessed by requesting emergency assistance through the SK Rent-a-Car customer center.

This service has enhanced reliability through partnerships with leading mobility companies in Korea. To provide a stable emergency charging service, SK Rent-a-Car is the only company in the rental car industry to receive exclusive supply of IONIQ 5 vehicles equipped with Hyundai's V2V charging technology. The operation of the emergency charging service is handled by SK Speedmate, which will provide prompt and systematic charging services to SK Rent-a-Car customers using Hyundai electric vehicles through its nationwide emergency dispatch network.

SK Rent-a-Car expects that the introduction of this service will reduce the concerns of electric vehicle users and further increase trust in electric vehicle usage.

An SK Rent-a-Car representative stated, "The free emergency charging service for electric vehicles was established to provide customers with fast and safe charging services in emergency situations that may occur while using electric vehicles," and added, "We will continue to discover services that address customer concerns by collaborating with various electric vehicle brands, thereby enhancing customer value."
