"There is no stopping. There is no rehearsal. Looking at the empty market, I tightened my shoelaces. Seeing the sweat of the farmers, I clenched my fists. All that remains is a 'full sprint' toward Geumsan."
This is the desperate determination of Moon Jeongwoo, former governor of Geumsan County, who is running for Geumsan County Governor in the upcoming local elections on June 3.
On January 31 at 4 p.m., Moon Jeongwoo held a publication ceremony for his book, "Geumsan Running Again: Moon Jeongwoo's Vision," in the auditorium on the second floor of the Geumsan Susam Center, rallying his supporters.
On this day, more than 300 supporters, including Yang Seungjo, former governor of South Chungcheong Province, Ahn Gijeon, former chairman of the Geumsan County Council, Hwang Myungseon, National Assembly member, and Jeon Munhak, special advisor to the Democratic Party leader, attended the event to offer congratulations.
In addition, Jeong Cheongrae, leader of the Democratic Party, and National Assembly members Park Beomgye, Kim Jongmin, and Park Soo-hyun sent congratulatory video messages to the publication ceremony.
Jeong Cheongrae stated, "In the book 'Geumsan Running Again: Moon Jeongwoo's Vision,' you can find the tears and sweat Moon Jeongwoo shed as he traveled to every corner of Geumsan over the past four years after stepping down from office, and his deep sincerity for his hometown," adding, "I am confident that the earnest visions Moon Jeongwoo has poured into this book will serve as a catalyst to revitalize the Geumsan economy."
Hwang Myungseon, National Assembly member, praised, "When I see former Governor Moon Jeongwoo, I see persistence, sincerity, and salesmanship. He is someone I trust and consider a 'Little Lee Jaemyung.'"
Moon Jeongwoo shared, "During the freezing cold, I heard an elderly street vendor say that even after sitting for half a day selling shepherd's purse, peanuts, and pumpkin skewers, not a single person came to buy anything. Hearing that truly broke my heart," adding, "It brought me to tears to realize how many people in Geumsan are living in such difficult circumstances."
He continued, "Seeing that elderly woman made me reflect deeply," and explained, "As I traveled throughout Geumsan, meeting farmers, merchants, and many others, I realized there are so many people facing hardship. That made me resolve to do something for them, and for Geumsan," explaining his motivation for running for county governor.
He said, "Having led the county government during the 7th popularly elected term, I do not need any rehearsal to know what to do when I take office. As soon as the starting signal is given, I am ready to run in earnest once again," emphasizing his image as a prepared leader.
He added, "Today, I received sneakers as a gift from my grandchildren, and tightening the laces does not mean I intend to sit at a desk and simply handle administrative tasks. Rather, I am determined to become a salesperson for Geumsan," and continued, "I will make the most of politicians for Geumsan, and I will work hard on the national stage, which is why I tied my shoelaces."
Moon Jeongwoo emphasized, "With the attitude of 'listening carefully is the best way to win hearts'-as in the saying 'Icheongdeuksim'-I will open my heart and communicate sincerely with every resident of the county."
