Held under the theme “A Future Opened by Sharing and Innovation,” the forum was organized to promote mutual growth and coexistence among the four universities in the Nowon area through cooperation and solidarity, and to disseminate the outcomes of the university financial support projects.
The event consisted of three sessions: student achievement presentations, sharing of outstanding cases by each university, and a comprehensive discussion and networking session.
In the first session, students who participated in the joint programs of the four universities presented their achievements.
An outstanding team from the joint start-up camp introduced “Jamsisari,” a platform designed to solve the problem of vacant one-room apartments near the universities, presenting a creative idea to address a local community issue.
This was followed by presentations on exemplary cases from shared courses involving public-private-academic cooperation to solve community problems.
Through an on-site project in Yanggu-gun, Gangwon-do, students from the four universities collaborated with local institutions to produce tangible results, some of which were even reviewed as potential policy ideas.
In the second session, each university presented its own innovation cases, sharing educational innovation outcomes and operational know-how, and discussing directions for institutional development.
Kim Hyangil, professor at the School of Creative Convergence and Undeclared Majors at Sahmyook University, presented on “Educational Outcomes of the Inside Story Project,” while Cho Wongi, head of the Center for Teaching and Learning Development at Seoul National University of Science and Technology, gave a presentation on “Strengthening Learning Competencies for Future Planning.”
Next, Lee Kiyong, team leader at the Data Innovation Office of Seoul Women’s University, introduced a case study on “Building and Operating a Reliable Generative AI Academic Counseling System,” and Kwangwoon University’s University Innovation Project Group professor Lim Yeongyu shared a model on “An Organic Linkage Model Between the Class-Divided Academic Advisor System and Major Exploration Guidance for the Successful Establishment of a Major Free-Choice System.”
In the final session, a thematic discussion and networking time were held to explore cooperation measures based on the presentations, further reinforcing the significance of solidarity among the universities.
In his welcome speech, President Je Haejong said, “This forum is a starting point for the four universities in the Nowon area to lower their walls, pool their wisdom, and build a new educational ecosystem of sharing and cooperation,” emphasizing, “In the AI era, true university innovation lies in strengthening the value of human-centered education alongside technological innovation.”
Meanwhile, the University Innovation Support Project is the Ministry of Education’s flagship financial support program under which universities autonomously establish and implement educational innovation plans.
Sahmyook University has been operating the project with the goal of becoming a “SURISE platform university that leads student success and a sustainable future through data- and AI-based customized educational innovation and creative convergence,” and received the highest S grade in the performance evaluation of the 2025 academic year University Innovation Support Project.
