As a result of this measure, all 515 taxis registered with the GJ Call (taxi call center) in Gwangju will be able to provide call services without any additional cost. Citizens will be able to use the call taxi service in the same way as before, but without having to pay the call fee.

The elimination of the taxi call fee was implemented to reduce transportation costs for citizens, increase accessibility to call taxi services, boost usage rates, and strengthen the competitiveness of local transportation services.

Mayor Bang Sehyun stated, "This elimination of the call fee will not only ease the financial burden on citizens but also help non-affiliated local taxi operators who are struggling amid the gradual market dominance of large call-based platforms."

Meanwhile, the taxi industry is considering introducing call services using mobile apps in addition to the existing phone-based call service, using this call fee elimination as an opportunity. The goal is to gradually establish an environment where citizens can use taxis more conveniently.
