This agreement is based on the “Ordinance on Financial Support for Village Buses in Yongsan District, Seoul” and is being promoted as an institutional cooperative project in which the district and transportation operators share responsibilities, rather than a one-time support measure. The village bus industry has long faced difficulties in workforce management due to challenges in hiring drivers and frequent job changes to city buses.

The signing ceremony was attended by Heeyoung Park, Mayor of Yongsan District, and representatives from local village bus transportation companies such as Namsan Transportation, Geumyang Transportation, and Taeyoung Transportation. Under the agreement, the district will provide each driver with 300,000 won per month (900,000 won per quarter). The transportation companies will use this support to expand recruitment and stabilize working conditions for drivers. In addition, they will enhance safety training, including preventing non-stop passing and reckless driving, to improve service quality.

The district expects that this support will encourage long-term employment among village bus drivers, increase route stability and safe driving standards, and ultimately reduce transportation inconveniences for residents.

Heeyoung Park, Mayor of Yongsan District, stated, “Village buses are the means of transportation closest to residents’ daily lives, so improving the treatment of drivers directly enhances the quality of transportation services. The district will create stable working conditions through the allowance, and transportation companies will take responsibility for expanding their workforce and ensuring safe operations, thereby delivering tangible changes that residents can truly feel.”
