KECD Holds Inauguration Ceremony for 17th President Lee Minhyung

International Events Announced, Including World Design Day and K-Wave Conference

The Korea Contemporary Design Association (KECD) announced on January 26 that it officially launched the new president system by holding the inauguration ceremony for the 17th President, Lee Minhyung, at Induk University on January 24.

Members of the association and figures from the design industry attended the inauguration ceremony to congratulate the new president and to share the future direction of the association’s operations.


Lee Minhyung stated, "These projects will go beyond simple events and become an important process that connects the values and experiences of the previous generation to the next generation and to the world," adding, "Together with our members, I will build an association that continues tradition, implements change, and prepares for what’s next."


In his inaugural address, President Lee also expressed his intention to "inherit the history the association has built and the achievements of the previous generation."


Additionally, President Lee presented the following as key future operational keywords for the association: the next generation, international, and connection. He emphasized the association’s role in ensuring that education, research, and practice are organically linked.


The association plans to review and promote various events to expand international design exchanges with the aim of 2026. The ICo-D International Day of Design will be held in Daejeon in April. It is an event endorsed by the International Design Council (ICo-D) and shares the social value and contemporary role of desig.


In July, the K-Wave & Design Conference and the International Poster Design Exhibition will present the potential for expanding Korean design and culture (K-Culture) on the global stage and strengthen global networks. In December, an academic exchange and international poster exhibition will be held locally in Taiwan, solidifying the Asian design network.


The Korea Contemporary Design Association, established in 1969, is a design organization that has focused on the development of the domestic visual design field and international exchange.
