Biotechnology company Bioneer announced on January 26 that its subsidiary, AceBiome, has signed a joint development agreement (JDA) with Danish biotech company BactoLife.
BactoLife is a company specializing in protein-based gut health technology. It has previously attracted investments from Novo Holdings and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, among others. The company is currently pursuing clinical trials and commercialization through a recent Series B funding round.
Under this agreement, the two companies will jointly conduct research on new functional ingredients focused on gut health. AceBiome will contribute its research achievements in probiotics, while BactoLife will provide its protein-binding technology. They plan to explore opportunities to enter the global health functional food market by discovering new materials.
A representative from AceBiome stated, "Through joint research with promising overseas biotech companies, we will assess the potential for developing next-generation health ingredients," adding, "We plan to expand our portfolio based on the microbiome."
