Samyang Foods has officially ushered in its new era in Myeongdong. With the relocation to its new office building in Myeongdong, the company aims to accelerate its growth as a global food enterprise.

On January 26, Samyang Foods announced that it had completed the move of its headquarters to a new office building located in Chungmuro 2-ga, Myeongdong, Jung-gu, Seoul, and that employees had started their first day at the new location. This relocation comes approximately 28 years after the completion of its Hawolgok-dong office in Seongbuk-gu in 1997. The move was pursued to establish a work infrastructure that matches the company’s rapid global growth.

The relocation to Myeongdong was made with both the brand’s symbolic value and practical work efficiency in mind. Myeongdong is a symbolic place for Samyang Foods, as it is where Vice Chairman Kim Jeongsu once got the idea for the creation of 'Buldak Bokkeummyeon' at a local restaurant.

This decision was driven by the company’s explosive business expansion. Thanks to the global popularity of the 'Buldak' brand, the number of employees has nearly doubled over the past decade, pushing the capacity of the former Hawolgok-dong office to its limit. The new office building, with a total floor area of 20,867 square meters and spanning six basement levels and fifteen above-ground floors, will not only accommodate headquarters staff but also bring together key personnel from Samyang Round Square’s major affiliates, who had previously worked in separate locations, thereby maximizing work synergy.

The new Myeongdong office will serve as Samyang Foods’ “global outpost.” By leveraging Myeongdong’s geographic advantage as a hub for foreign tourists, the company plans to strengthen its connection with global consumers and solidify its status as a leading K-food brand. With more than 80% of total sales generated overseas, Samyang Foods intends to further accelerate its market-specific strategies and export drive from this new base. The central city location will also help the company attract top global talent with an international mindset.

A Samyang Foods representative stated, “The move to our new Myeongdong office is more than just a change of space; it marks a critical turning point as Samyang Foods rises to become a key player in the global food market. In this new environment, we will foster an innovative corporate culture and continue to deliver differentiated value to consumers worldwide as a truly global company.”

Meanwhile, the former Hawolgok-dong office will continue to serve as a base for sales and logistics operations and will be managed on an ongoing basis.
