Daejeon City will hold the "Love Water Drawing and Photography Contest" to mark World Water Day (March 22), aiming to raise awareness about the water environment and highlight the importance of water resources.
This contest is organized under the United Nations’ 2026 theme, "Water and Gender: Water for All," with the goal of achieving equitable access to safe water for everyone and promoting a commitment to preserving the water environment in daily life amid the climate crisis.
The contest consists of two categories: drawing and photography. The drawing category is open to elementary school students in Daejeon, while the photography category is open to all Korean citizens, including youth, university students, and the general public. Each participant may submit up to two works.
Entries for the photography category will be accepted via email from January 26 to March 5, while submissions for the drawing category can be sent by mail or delivered in person from February 27 to March 5.
The city will select a total of 69 winning works-62 drawings and 7 photographs-through a fair evaluation by experts. The results will be announced on March 12 on the Daejeon City website, and the main winning entries will be exhibited in the lobby of Daejeon City Hall from March 19 to March 24.
Moon Changyong, Director of the Environment Bureau of Daejeon City, said, "I hope this contest serves as a valuable opportunity to recognize once again the seriousness of the water environment crisis amid the climate crisis and to strengthen our commitment to preserving the water environment in our daily lives."
This contest is supported by the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment, the Daejeon Metropolitan Office of Education, and the Environmental Conservation Institute. For more details, please refer to the city news board on the Daejeon City website.
