Opposition Also Mourns Lee Haechan's Passing: "His Journey, a Chapter in Our Political History"

On January 25, the People Power Party issued a statement regarding the passing of Lee Haechan, Senior Vice Chair of the National Unification Advisory Council, saying, "His journey from the democratic movement to taking responsibility for state affairs will remain a significant chapter in the history of our politics."

Choi Boyoon, Chief Spokesperson of the People Power Party, stated, "He spent many years at the center of politics, serving as a seven-term National Assembly member and Prime Minister."

Spokesperson Choi added, "Senior Vice Chair Lee passed away due to deteriorating health while on an official overseas duty. We express our deepest condolences at this sudden and sad news," and continued, "We sincerely pray for the repose of the deceased and extend heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved family, who are in deep sorrow together with the people."

Lee Junseok, leader of the Reform Party, also said, "I express my deepest condolences at the sudden passing of Senior Vice Chair Lee," adding, "He fulfilled his duties in the political arena of the Republic of Korea for many years, serving as a seven-term National Assembly member and Prime Minister. I pray for his soul and sincerely extend my condolences to the bereaved family."
