On January 5, one day before the opening of CES 2026, the world's largest electronics and IT exhibition opening on the 6th (local time) in Las Vegas, a robot stood in front of a laundry basket before visitors at the LG Electronics booth in the Central Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center. This was 'LG CLOiD', the AI home robot unveiled by LG Electronics. When CLOiD picked up a freshly laundered towel, its robotic fingers grasped the edge of the fabric. It lifted both corners and folded the towel precisely in half, then folded it twice more. While the final folded shape was not as perfect as that done by human hands, it demonstrated the robot's ability to alleviate some of the repetitive household chores. The robot adjusted the height of its body up and down and picked up clothing left in the laundry basket one by one, placing them into the washing machine. There were no instances of laundry falling to the floor or slipping from its grasp.

A demonstration was also held where the robot found and picked up a key placed beside a sofa in the exhibition space. Assuming the owner had left the key behind, the robot extended its arm and lifted the key. In the breakfast preparation demonstration, it moved to the oven, picked up a bowl of croissant dough, placed it inside the oven, and closed the door. When approaching the refrigerator, the door opened automatically, and the robot accurately located and retrieved a carton of milk from inside. Although the movements were not fast, the sequence was precise. Reporters on site followed the robot’s hands and movement path as they observed the demonstration.

The robot did not stop even after the demonstration. It took on the role of a docent, guiding visitors to key areas of the exhibition and explaining products and technologies. When visitors moved, the robot either led the way or stayed by their side, and the exhibition route continued along the robot’s path. Since the robot stops moving when someone is nearby, visitors had to maintain a certain distance while following CLOiD. Nevertheless, during the pre-booth tour held a day before the opening of CES, the robot successfully completed its role as the starting point and guide of the exhibition without any incidents.

From January 6 to 9, LG Electronics is operating a 2,044-square-meter exhibition hall at CES 2026 under the theme "Innovation in Tune with You." The company has connected various scenes of daily life-such as home, vehicle, gallery, and entertainment spaces-into a single flow, showcasing how technologies and products are centered and harmonized around the customer.

At the entrance to the exhibition hall, an enormous installation composed of 38 units of the wireless wallpaper TV 'LG OLED evo AI W6' was suspended from the ceiling. These ultra-slim TVs, each measuring just 9mm thick, appeared to float in the air, and the installation was designed so that standing at a specific spot the individual screens come together as a single piece of media art. Visitors paused at the designated point to watch the screens align into a unified display.

In the "Zero Labor Home" zone, which recreated a residential space, LG CLOiD and AI home appliances were seamlessly integrated. The household tasks performed by the robot were demonstrated in coordination with AI appliances such as the refrigerator, oven, and washing machine. LG Electronics explained that the focus was on reducing some of the repetitive and burdensome housework.

The AI appliances also operated together with the robot. The LG AI refrigerator learned user patterns and adjusted its internal temperature, while the AI DD motor-equipped WashTower analyzed the weight, humidity, and fabric type of laundry to automatically adapt washing and drying intensity. All appliances were connected to the AI home hub 'ThinQ On', which managed tasks such as detecting changes in refrigerator temperature, recommending wash cycles, monitoring air quality, and controlling lighting.

In the vehicle solutions zone, AI-based automotive technologies were demonstrated. The front windshield, featuring transparent OLED, displayed only the necessary information according to driving conditions. The seat, equipped with in-cabin sensing technology, analyzed the driver's line of sight and automatically switched to autonomous driving mode if the driver’s gaze was off the road for a certain period. In the rear seat area, a function that recognized the outside scenery and recommended related photos and content was introduced.

In the TV exhibition area, the 2026 OLED evo AI W6 and the premium LCD TV 'Micro RGB Evo' were unveiled. The OLED evo AI W6 emphasized an ultra-slim design that fits closely to the wall despite its all-in-one structure with built-in speakers. Visitors enjoyed over 4,500 pieces of content-including art and game illustrations-through 'LG Gallery Plus,' and experienced AI-generated images integrated into the spatial presentation.

In the entertainment zone, a gaming experience area in collaboration with the global online community Reddit was operated. High-resolution game videos were demonstrated on the wireless AV transmission-enabled OLED evo AI W6, and racing game experiences continued on the UltraGear Evo gaming monitor. In the music experience area, four new products from the wireless audio brand 'LG XBOOM,' developed in collaboration with musician will.i.am, were showcased.

The premium home appliance lineup 'LG SIGNATURE' was unveiled as well. Features demonstrated included an AI voice recognition function based on a large language model (LLM) in the refrigerator, a gourmet AI function that recommends menus by recognizing ingredients, and an AI browning alarm that informs the user of cooking progress. On the same day, LG Electronics declared the era of "AI in Action," where devices and spaces operate autonomously based on empathy intelligence. Jaechul Ryu, CEO of LG Electronics, held the LG World Premiere at Mandalay Bay Convention Center that day, stating, "We will set a new standard for future home life with various solutions based on empathy intelligence."
