Seeking a Mutual Growth Model for School, Local Community, and Industry... Dongseo University Professor Choi Jeongbae Achieves Digital Innovation for SMEs

Presented a Work-Study Model, Received Two Ministerial Awards

Choi Jeongbae, a professor at the Work-Study Center of Dongseo University (President Jang Jeguk), is drawing attention for presenting a standard for mutual growth where “school, industry, and local community” coexist. Professor Choi has received ministerial awards twice for these achievements.

This represents a new standard for mutual growth that drives the transformation of local small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and the creation of jobs.

Professor Choi Jeongbae has not limited himself to theoretical education at the university but has actively visited local SME sites to provide “on-site, hands-on guidance.” Through this approach, he has operated education and training programs and work-study initiatives based on the National Competency Standards (NCS). In particular, he is credited with successfully leading the digital transformation (DX) and smart factory adoption-long-standing goals for SMEs-thereby addressing workforce shortages and improving productivity at the same time.

In recognition of these innovative contributions, Professor Choi received a commendation from the Minister of Employment and Labor in 2023, followed by a commendation from the Minister of SMEs and Startups this year. These achievements demonstrate that the intellectual assets of the university have led to tangible results in employment stability and economic revitalization in the industrial field.

Professor Choi emphasized, “The Dongseo University Work-Study Center plans to expand a sustainable mutual growth model in cooperation with local industries, so that the outcomes of education and training will translate into enhanced on-site competitiveness and job creation.”
