Under the agreement, the two organizations will collaborate on developing and activating new transportation routes utilizing the Arctic sea route, building an integrated rail-port logistics network, sharing logistics information, and exchanging specialized personnel.

In particular, they will focus on advancing the combined transportation system connecting ports and railways, preparing international logistics agreements and policy measures in anticipation of the commercialization of the Arctic sea route, and building networks for new routes such as Busan Port-Vladivostok-Trans-Siberian Railway (TSR).

Chung Jeongrae, Acting President of Korea Railroad Corporation, stated, "This agreement is significant in that a rail operator and a maritime policy research institute have agreed to create synergy across land and sea. Korea Railroad Corporation will strive to achieve tangible results based on close cooperation and exchange with the Korea Maritime Institute."
