Seoul Housing and Communities Corporation (SH) announced on December 12 that it received the Minister of Climate, Energy and Environment Award at the 16th Best Practices Contest for Recycled Aggregate and Recycled Aggregate Products.

Recycled aggregate refers to products produced by physically and chemically processing construction waste to meet quality standards. It is considered an alternative that can address both the depletion of natural aggregates and the issue of construction waste disposal.

SH has actively introduced recycled aggregate and recycled asphalt concrete at construction sites to reduce the use of natural aggregates and contribute to the realization of the national circular economy policy. By using recycled aggregate in four sites, including the Naegok District Outer Road, covering a total area of 15,071 square meters, the company achieved a budget saving of approximately 240 million won.

In addition, SH plans to systematically set mid- to long-term goals and manage implementation by utilizing its self-developed ‘Construction Recycled Resource Utilization Performance Index,’ and to gradually expand the use of recycled resources.

Hwang Sangha, President of SH, stated, “The utilization of recycled aggregate is an important task that not only protects the environment but also strengthens the nation’s competitiveness in the circular economy. Taking this award as an opportunity, we will further enhance environmental management at construction sites.”
