The Daejeon Metropolitan Government has imposed the second installment of automobile tax for this year, covering 338,801 cases and totaling 40.443 billion won. This represents an increase of approximately 1.1 billion won (3.0%) compared to the same period last year, primarily due to the rise in the number of registered vehicles.
The second installment of automobile tax is imposed on vehicle owners listed in the automobile registration records as of December 1, covering the ownership period from July 1 to December 31. Taxable vehicles include those registered or reported under the Automobile Management Act, as well as dump trucks and concrete mixer trucks registered under the Construction Machinery Management Act.
Those who have already paid the annual automobile tax in advance for this year are excluded from this round of taxation.
By district, the breakdown of automobile tax assessments is as follows: Seo-gu recorded the highest with 108,065 cases totaling 12.554 billion won (31.0%), followed by Yuseong-gu with 89,824 cases at 11.231 billion won (27.8%), Jung-gu with 49,005 cases at 5.826 billion won (14.4%), Dong-gu with 48,330 cases at 5.67 billion won (14.0%), and Daedeok-gu with 43,577 cases at 5.162 billion won (12.8%).
This installment of automobile tax must be paid by December 31. Taxpayers can make payments via the internet, virtual accounts, local tax payment accounts, the local tax ARS payment guidance system, or by visiting financial institutions to pay through cash dispensers (CD/ATM).
An official from Daejeon City stated, "If the payment deadline is missed, a 3% late payment penalty will be charged, so please ensure to pay within the deadline."
