In critical moments where every second counts, Yangsan City has made a groundbreaking enhancement to its regional emergency medical system.
On December 10, Yangsan City held a joint cooperation agreement signing ceremony for emergency medical institutions in the second seminar room of the Yangsan Business Center, and hosted the 'Local Medical Support Governance Establishment Meeting.'
The event was attended by Lee Sangdon, Director of Pusan National University Yangsan Hospital, which serves as the regional emergency medical center; Park Heeju, Director of Bethesda Gospel Hospital, a local emergency medical institution; Hong Seongmin, Director of Bonbarun Hospital, a local emergency medical facility; Yoo Byeongjo, Chief of the Yangsan Police Station; and representatives from related organizations. They discussed collaborative measures to strengthen the essential and emergency medical system and formalized their cooperation through the agreement.
Yangsan City officially launched the 'Local Medical Support Governance,' an enhanced version of the existing emergency medical council, aiming to reduce delays and confusion during the transfer and referral of emergency patients and to further solidify the emergency medical system through improved information sharing among institutions.
This governance structure is designed to provide more efficient essential and urgent medical support within the local community, with clearly defined roles for each institution.
Specifically, Yangsan City will establish an administrative support system to improve access to emergency and essential medical care, while emergency medical institutions will be responsible for rapid response and strengthening core and essential medical departments.
The fire department will focus on streamlining on-site treatment and patient transport, the police will mediate conflicts between hospitals and patients and enhance protection and facility connections for vulnerable groups, and the Mental Health Welfare Center will operate a crisis management network linking the center, emergency rooms, and the police station.
Through the establishment of this governance system, the city plans to create a framework that enables faster and more accurate responses to emergencies, ensuring that patients do not miss the golden hour. This is expected to expedite the classification of emergency patients by severity and the selection of transfer medical institutions, minimize duplication and delays during transfer and referral processes, and further strengthen the cooperation and support system among local medical institutions.
Mayor Na Dongyeon stated, "This agreement marks an important first step in shaping the future of local healthcare together," emphasizing, "We will work more closely with local medical institutions and further develop the system so that residents can receive treatment without worry in emergency situations."
Lee Sangdon, Director of Pusan National University Yangsan Hospital, commented, "The core of emergency medical care lies in trust and cooperation among institutions," and added, "We will actively collaborate with Yangsan City to elevate the level of emergency medical services in the region."
A Yangsan City official said, "The full-scale launch of this Local Medical Support Governance will greatly contribute to improving the emergency medical system and strengthening the health safety net for local residents," adding, "Yangsan City plans to continue developing such collaborative activities in the future."
