Wi Seongrak, Director of the National Security Office at the Presidential Office, will visit Washington, D.C. next week to discuss follow-up measures to the South Korea-U.S. summit with the Trump administration and coordination on North Korea.

According to political sources on December 10, Director Wi is expected to visit Washington, D.C. on December 16 and meet his counterpart, Secretary of State and National Security Advisor Marco Rubio. At this meeting, Director Wi is reportedly set to discuss implementation measures for the South Korea-U.S. joint factsheet.

In particular, discussions may cover issues such as enriched uranium, nuclear-powered submarines, and increases in the defense budget, as the National Security Office has formed a task force and is conducting working-level consultations with the United States on these matters.

An official from the Presidential Office stated, "Director Wi Seongrak's visit to the United States is currently being coordinated with the U.S. side," adding, "Director Wi is maintaining close communication with his U.S. counterparts on all pending issues between the National Security Councils of both countries."
