The county received applications for the basic public direct payment between February and May this year. It finalized the list of eligible recipients after verifying the farmland, farmers, and small-scale direct payment eligibility requirements, as well as checking compliance and conducting inspections.

The small-scale direct payment will be provided to 4,804 farming households selected on a household basis, totaling 6.2 billion won, while the area-based direct payment will be given to 8,177 farmers and agricultural corporations, totaling 32.7 billion won.

Following last year’s increase in the small-scale direct payment unit price to 1.3 million won, this year the area-based direct payment unit price will be raised by 5-36%, from 1 million to 2.05 million won per hectare in 2024 to 1.36 million to 2.15 million won per hectare in 2025, in order to strengthen the income safety net for farmers.

Shim Deokseop, Governor of Gochang County, said, “I hope the increase in the public direct payment unit price will provide at least some relief to farming households struggling with various crop diseases and rising management costs this year.”
