He added, "In line with the opening of POEX, we will strengthen our cooperation system with international organizations and overseas convention institutions to become a global convention city."
He also referenced the recently signed letter of intent for exchange with Debrecen, Hungary, emphasizing, "We must identify and implement practical cooperative projects to elevate Pohang's status as a global leader in the battery industry."
The city shared the current status of securing national investment funds for 2026 and reviewed its goals and strategies for obtaining government funding in 2027. In particular, Pohang plans to intensify efforts to discover and nurture new growth engines and to prepare for large-scale national projects.
Mayor Lee especially stressed that the municipal museum and the second municipal art museum, both currently under development, must become core cultural infrastructure that embodies Pohang's identity. He instructed that these facilities be created as smart, integrated cultural spaces that set Pohang apart from other cities by showcasing the city's unique nature, history, and culture-spaces that citizens can enjoy in their daily lives.
Additionally, Pohang City plans to thoroughly inspect its disaster response system to prepare for the risk of wildfires during the dry winter season and consecutive cold waves, and to strengthen support for protecting vulnerable groups.
Mayor Lee Gangdeok urged, "To enhance Pohang's future competitiveness, we must focus our administrative capabilities and ensure that all departments work together organically to deliver changes that citizens can truly feel. Please do your utmost to respond to current issues and prepare for the future without wavering."
