IU, Byun Woo-seok's "21st Century Grand Princess" to Premiere in the First Half of Next Year

On December 4, MBC announced that the drama "21st Century Grand Princess," starring IU and Byun Wooseok, will be released in the first half of next year.

This is a romance drama set in a 21st-century constitutional monarchy Korea, focusing on breaking down social status barriers. It tells the story of Seong Heeju (played by IU), a conglomerate heiress who has everything but is a commoner by status, and Prince Ian (played by Byun Wooseok), the son of the king who cannot have anything, depicting their conflicts and love. The drama is based on a script that won MBC's script contest and will be directed by Park Junhwa, known for "Alchemy of Souls."

MBC will also introduce "Liar," "Married Woman Killer," and "Your Ground" next year. "Liar," starring Yoo Yeonseok and Seo Hyunjin, is a story about a man and a woman who clash in pursuit of the truth, each making completely opposite claims over a single memory. The series will be directed by Cho Youngmin, known for "Eunjung and Sangyeon."

"Married Woman Killer," starring Gong Hyojin and Jung Junwon, is a slice-of-life action drama about killer Yubona (played by Gong Hyojin), who returns to work after a three-year parental leave and struggles to maintain work-life balance between her family and her job. The series is based on a webtoon of the same name and will be directed by Yoon Jongho, known for "Carry Sunjae and Run."

"Your Ground," starring Gong Myung and Han Hyojoo, is a youth romance about a former baseball player whose career has stalled and who meets an agent with a background in law, helping him return to the field. The series will be directed by Lee Sangyeop, known for "Yumi's Cells."

Additionally, MBC will present several other dramas next month, including "Judge Lee Hanyeong" starring Ji Sung and Park Heesoon, "In Your Glorious Season" starring Chae Jonghyeop and Lee Sungkyung, and "Fifty Percent" featuring Shin Hakyun, Oh Jungse, and Heo Seongtae.
