Programs Linked with Local Universities Aim to Nurture Globally Competitive Talent
Diverse Events Including AI Installation Exhibitions, Lectures, and Workshops Run Through December 13
Will artificial intelligence (AI) encroach upon the realm of human creativity, or will it become a new partner in creation?
On December 5, Pohang City will open the '2025 2nd POHANG AI & ART WEEK' at Change Up Ground as part of the Global Talent Development Project, a university-linked educational initiative under the Special Zone for Educational Advancement.
This event is centered on the convergence of AI and art, allowing young people to directly experience technology-based creative activities. It aims to nurture globally competitive talent by providing high-quality university-linked education to local youth.
The 'Global Talent Development Project' is Pohang City's flagship future education program, offering specialized education to elementary, middle, and high school students by leveraging the expertise and educational resources of local universities.
POSTECH operates the 'Youth Mathematical AI Academy,' which combines mathematical principles with artificial intelligence, and this AI & ART WEEK has also been organized as a key component of that program. Students can experience integrated education by directly engaging in art creation using AI technology.
The event will run for nine days, from the opening ceremony through December 13. AI-based installation art will be on continuous display, and the main programs include: ▲ a lecture on 'Artificial Intelligence and Art' ▲ an artist talk featuring three creators ▲ a youth AI video workshop ▲ a special lecture on 'Artificial Intelligence and Film' ▲ an AI-composed Korean traditional music performance ▲ a traditional Korean instrument experience ▲ and an award ceremony for the Youth AI Art Contest.
In particular, the award ceremony for the Youth AI Art Contest, to be held on December 13, will announce six winners selected from entries submitted in November. This program will showcase AI-based artworks created by Pohang youth, providing an opportunity to observe the students' creative capabilities.
A Pohang City official stated, "This event will provide local youth with a new form of AI-integrated education and broaden their cultural and artistic sensibilities," adding, "We will continue to foster an environment where local talent can grow and settle in the region through specialized education in collaboration with local universities."
