Gwangju-Jeonnam Lawyers for a Democratic Society Branch Elects Changwoon Song as New President

The Gwangju-Jeonnam Branch of Lawyers for a Democratic Society announced on December 4 that Changwoon Song (47), Attorney at Law, has been elected as the 14th branch president.

Attorney Song ran unopposed in the branch election and received unanimous approval from all 61 members who participated in the vote, out of a total of 66 members.

He has handled public interest cases such as the death of a Chonnam National University graduate student and the Yeomjeon forced labor case, and has also provided legal support for victims of the December 29 Jeju Air passenger plane disaster. His term will run from January next year until December 2027.

Attorney Song graduated from Gwangju Jeil High School, the Department of Public Administration at Korea University, and Chonnam National University Law School, and passed the second bar exam.

He is currently serving as a board member of the May 18 Memorial Foundation, a mediator at Gwangju District Court, an administrative appeals committee member for Gwangju City, and a review committee member for the Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education.
