In the first session, Professor Yoon Byungdong will deliver a keynote speech introducing the industrial paradigm required for the AI Native era, including the necessity of AI in manufacturing sites.
The second session will introduce the GTX platform, which is based in Gumi and upholds technology exchange, sharing, and expansion (X) as its core values.
GTX serves as a cornerstone for building an industry-academia cooperation-based technology sharing ecosystem that can provide the research personnel needed by local companies in a timely manner, supporting Gumi City's ambition to become a global AX manufacturing hub.
In the third session, core researchers from leading domestic research universities will directly introduce their respective research institutes.
The participating universities include: ▲ Seoul National University Precision Mechanical Design Research Institute (Director: Professor Ahn Seonghun), ▲ Ewha Womans University Chemical and New Materials Engineering Research Institute (Director: Professor Kim Woojae), ▲ Sungkyunkwan University Flexible Computer Leading Research Center (Director: Professor Cho Kyujin), ▲ Korea Polytechnic University Engineering House Jisan Industry-Academia-Research Alliance (Director: Professor Kim Seongyong), and ▲ University of Science and Technology (Director: Professor Han Sangcheol).
Each university operates research centers specializing in areas such as smart manufacturing, IT convergence, materials, robotics, and AI, enabling them to connect with and respond to the diverse technological needs of companies in the Gumi region.
The event will be attended by key figures including Jeong Seonghyeon, Deputy Mayor of Gumi City Hall; Moon Chu-yeon, President of Gumi Electronics and Information Technology Institute; and Yoon Jaeho, Chairman of the Gumi Chamber of Commerce and Industry. During the roundtable held alongside the launch ceremony, plans will be discussed to establish a practical working group for ongoing communication, systematize R&SD cooperation, and implement follow-up measures to achieve tangible results.
Going forward, GTX will pursue: ▲ customized expert matching centered on corporate demand, ▲ joint utilization of research equipment and infrastructure, ▲ establishment of a support system to resolve companies' technological challenges, and ▲ an execution-oriented research cooperation model through networking of specialized technologies between local companies and universities.
This platform is drawing high expectations as it is optimized for the latest R&SD paradigm that emphasizes problem-solving research and development for companies.
Moon Chu-yeon, President of Gumi Electronics and Information Technology Institute, stated, "The GTX platform is a practical cooperation model that accurately identifies companies' technological needs and connects universities' research capabilities to real innovation outcomes for businesses. It will play a key role in Gumi's leap toward becoming a future-oriented city centered on manufacturing and technology."
With this launch ceremony as a starting point, Gumi City is expected to take a significant step toward securing sustainable growth engines for the regional industry and strengthening corporate competitiveness through the full-scale activation of complementary research cooperation between companies and universities.
In particular, as advanced manufacturing and AI-based research capabilities spread to the local field, an innovation structure closely linking industry, education, and technology is expected to be established. This is anticipated to have a positive ripple effect across the Gumi economy and play a major role in enhancing the technological independence of local companies.
