Mayor Kim stated, "Despite significant changes in both domestic and international environments, Icheon has always created new opportunities in times of crisis," adding, "I will make the final year of the 8th administration a turning point for growth."
On this day, Mayor Kim announced that next year’s city administration will focus on "greater growth," "robust livelihoods," and "comfortable daily life."
To drive urban growth, Mayor Kim plans to foster future-oriented specialized industries that enhance the value of the region, such as drones and the defense industry, alongside semiconductors. For stabilizing livelihoods, she intends to boost the local economy and provide deeper and broader support across all life stages, from children to seniors. Additionally, she emphasized plans to improve the transportation environment with a focus on citizen convenience and to expand cultural, sports, and park infrastructure.
Meanwhile, the city submitted a budget proposal for next year totaling 1.3488 trillion won to the city council on this day. This represents a 0.88% increase compared to this year’s main budget, which effectively amounts to an austerity budget.
Despite increased revenue due to the recovery of the semiconductor market, the city plans to practice selection and concentration by allocating resources efficiently to the areas of greatest need, as the burden of local expenditures for welfare and care services has also grown.
Mayor Kim stated, "2026 will be our new starting line," and added, "We will make the most of the remaining time to prepare for the future era ahead."
