Is Busan Port Safe for Winter?... Busan Port Authority Conducts Safety Inspection at North Port Redevelopment Construction Sites

Busan Port Authority (BPA, President Song Sanggeun) conducted a special winter safety inspection at five construction sites of the North Port redevelopment project from November 24 to 28.

This inspection was carried out to proactively identify and address various risk factors that may occur at construction sites during the winter season, such as cold-related illnesses among workers due to falling temperatures and the risk of fire from heating equipment in rest areas.

The inspection team visited key sites of the redevelopment project in person, focusing on checking the management status of winter risk factors, measures to prevent cold-related illnesses, and the establishment of emergency response systems.

Prior to the inspection, the team distributed guidelines on winter port construction risk factors and safety management measures, as well as a winter construction site safety and health guide, to each site. This was to ensure that all personnel understood the key management points for the winter season and to urge strict compliance with safety management standards and inspection items.

The Port Regeneration Project Team immediately addressed minor issues identified during the inspection on-site. Matters requiring additional action will be referred to the relevant departments for follow-up measures.

Song Hoon, Head of the Port Regeneration Project Team at Busan Port Authority, emphasized, "At construction sites during the winter season, even minor negligence can lead to major accidents, so proactive inspection and improvement are more important than ever. We will strive to create accident-free sites through field-oriented safety activities."
