Pharmicell announced on December 1 that it has held a groundbreaking ceremony for its third plant in the Onsan Industrial Complex in Ulsan, marking a move to strengthen its advanced materials supply chain.
The third plant, with a total project cost of 50 billion won from land acquisition to construction, will be built on a site covering 16,508 square meters (approximately 5,000 pyeong). This is about 1.75 times larger than the combined area of the existing first and second plants.
With the establishment of the new plant, Pharmicell will focus on producing low-dielectric electronic materials used in high-value-added advanced equipment such as artificial intelligence (AI) accelerators, 5G network devices, and base station antennas. By implementing a continuous production process equipped with advanced automation facilities, the company aims to maximize production efficiency and achieve higher quality standards.
Pharmicell is targeting the second half of next year for the completion of the new plant. Upon completion, the company expects to significantly expand its annual production capacity. Pharmicell believes it will be able to actively respond to the rapidly growing global AI and 5G infrastructure market demand. Through the operation of the third plant, the company will further strengthen its competitiveness in the global electronic materials market.
A Pharmicell representative stated, "The groundbreaking ceremony marks the beginning of a proactive and strategic investment to secure leadership in the future advanced materials market," adding, "We will further solidify the foundation for sustainable growth through the establishment of a smart factory and technological innovation."
Pharmicell's bio-chemical division built its first Ulsan plant in 2018, followed by the second plant in 2022. As of the third quarter of 2025, cumulative sales reached 77.5 billion won. Low-dielectric electronic materials recorded sales of 43.2 billion won, representing a 181.7% increase compared to the same period last year, and led the sales growth in the bio-chemical division.
