National Heritage Administration to Hold Academic Conference Reviewing Ten Years of Intangible Heritage Policy 원본보기 아이콘

The National Heritage Administration will hold an academic conference on December 2 at the National Intangible Heritage Center in Jeonju, under the theme "One Year Since the Launch of the National Heritage System, Ten Years Since the Enactment of the Intangible Heritage Act." The conference will review the achievements of intangible heritage policies and discuss the future direction of the transmission system.


The event will consist of a keynote lecture, thematic presentations, and a comprehensive discussion. In the keynote lecture, Heo Yongho, a professor at the Korea National University of Arts, will explain policy changes following the launch of the national heritage system. Next, Cha Boyoung, a researcher at the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Centre for Intangible Cultural Heritage, will present on the changes in the field brought about by expanded agreements and transmission communities. Lee Seungju, a member of the Intangible Heritage Committee of the National Heritage Administration, will analyze the transmission ecosystem within the framework of the Intangible Heritage Act, focusing on the crafts sector.


Presentations will also address the direction of intangible heritage research and investigation. Lee Eunjung, a professor at Yeungnam University, will propose a shift in research methods from the perspective of complex heritage. Kim Hyungkeun, a professor at Kyungpook National University, will review the achievements and challenges of 30 years of national intangible heritage documentation.


After the presentations, a comprehensive discussion will be chaired by Cheon Jinggi, Chair of the Intangible Heritage Committee. Panelists will include Jeong Sangwoo, a professor at Inha University, and Song Minseon, a member of the Chungbuk Intangible Heritage Committee.


The academic conference is open to all and can be attended by on-site registration without prior application.
