The Daejeon Museum of Art will hold an open call for artists for the 2026 Young Artists Support Exhibition, "Next Code."
"Next Code" is an exhibition that supports the creative activities of next-generation artists with ties to the Daejeon and Chungcheong regions. Since its inception in 1999, it has introduced and fostered the work of 165 young artists over the past 25 years.
Since 2018, the selection process has shifted to an open call, with external experts from the art world serving as judges, further solidifying the exhibition's reputation.
"Next Code 2026" is scheduled to be held at the main building of the Daejeon Museum of Art in Mannyeon-dong for about two months starting July 14 next year. Selected artists will receive support for the exhibition, be matched with art critics, receive fees for critical essays, creative activity grants, and two professional critiques. They will also participate in the "Young Artists Distribution Support Project," which is scheduled to take place on the museum's lawn plaza in September.
The open call will be conducted online until December 19. Any young visual artist aged 20 to 43 with ties to the Daejeon or Chungcheong regions is eligible to apply. Further details can be found in the announcements section of the museum's website.
Yoon Euihyang, Director of the Daejeon Museum of Art, stated, "We look forward to the enthusiastic interest and participation of young artists who will become the pillars of contemporary Korean art beyond the region," adding, "We will provide a foundation for young artists to grow further not only through exhibitions but also through various museum activities."
