Seoul Mayor Oh Sehoon stated regarding the allegations of proxy payment for opinion poll expenses, "If the special prosecutor were to indict me, even in a one-in-a-million chance, it would be difficult to handle the aftermath."
On November 27, after attending a forum at the National Assembly titled "Causes and Solutions to the Housing Supply Cliff in Seoul," Mayor Oh told reporters, "Given the political inclination of the special prosecutor, there is a possibility that an indictment could be made," expressing his concerns.
Mayor Oh argued, "The 13 unpublished opinion polls that Mr. Myung Taegyun claims to have provided to our campaign were fabricated with manipulated samples and are fake surveys."
He continued, "At the time, I was consistently refusing to meet, but Mr. Myung's side kept sending messages asking to meet. For me to be indicted, it would have to be proven that we arranged for Mr. Kim Hanjung to pay money and then received the opinion poll results. Is it really possible to indict me on that basis?" he pointed out.
Mayor Oh also dismissed the discovery of six opinion poll files on his submitted mobile phone as 'meaningless.' He said, "People are talking as if this is evidence of a transaction, but think about it logically. To conduct an opinion poll, there needs to be communication when drafting the survey questions in advance, but there is no trace of such communication at all," he explained.
He added, "On the contrary, there is clear evidence that the opinion polls were delivered to Ji Sangwook, then head of the party’s Yeouido Institute, and to Kim Chongin, who was then the interim leader, and that discussions continued with them."
