Gijang-gun (Governor Jung Jongbok) announced on November 26 that the Gijang-gun Youth Participation Organization received the gold prize at the recently held “Youth 100 Policy Proposal Debate.”
This debate was organized by Busan Metropolitan City and the Busan Youth Activity Promotion Center, and supported by the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education, Busan Metropolitan Council, National Youth Policy Institute, and National Youth Activity Promotion Agency. It brought together 100 youths from the Busan area to freely share opinions and propose ideas for the development of their local communities.
The debate focused on five main topics: ▲rights participation ▲culture and leisure ▲career paths ▲safety ▲environment. Policy proposals and discussions were held around these themes. Representing Gijang-gun, a total of eight members participated: three from the Gijang-gun Youth Participation Committee and five from the Gijang Cultural Etiquette School Youth Steering Committee.
The youths from Gijang-gun delivered a presentation titled “Confusion-Free Bus Stops, Convenient Transportation,” proposing practical, community-based environmental policies under the theme of “The Environment in Youths’ Daily Lives.” Their realistic improvement measures, presented from the perspective of young people, were highly praised, resulting in them winning the gold prize (Busan Metropolitan Office of Education Award).
Through this participation, the youths gained valuable experience by directly expressing their opinions on social issues and taking part in the policy-making process. Furthermore, the fact that they led the entire process-from selecting the presentation topic to structuring and delivering their proposal-added even greater significance to their achievement.
Jung Jongbok, Governor of Gijang-gun, stated, “I am very pleased that the outstanding policy capabilities of our Youth Participation Organization have been recognized externally. We will actively support local youths so they can gain diverse experiences in social participation and grow into key drivers of regional development.”
Members of the Youth Participation Organization of Gijang County participated in a policy proposal debate, received the gold prize, and are taking a commemorative photo.
