Boosting the Potential for Expansion of the Recycling Industry

원본보기 아이콘The award-winning team consisted of students Kim Daeun, Lee Jihyun, Kim Nahyun, and Pyeon Juwon, as well as Professor Baek Jieun and Reset Company CEO Jung Seongdae.
This competition, hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Korean Women Engineers Association, aimed to strengthen the practical skills of female engineering students. Since July, participating teams have been working on assignments with corporate mentors.
The awards ceremony was held on November 17 at the 2025 Women Engineers in Industry Conference at EL Tower in Seoul.
The Re:Sun team received high praise for their project, "Development of a Prediction Map and Characteristic Analysis for the Expansion of Domestic Solar Panel Waste Recycling." The team built a probability model for waste panel generation by combining institutional and climate factors, as well as waste panel generation patterns, with a database of more than 100,000 solar power plants. They produced maps predicting waste panel generation by year and region.
In addition, the team analyzed and proposed optimal locations for waste panel recycling plants and collection hubs, presenting ways to maximize social, economic, and environmental benefits.
Professor Baek Jieun, the team’s advisor, said, "Through the process of solving real-world problems with companies, the students achieved results with high potential for industrial application. This will serve as a good example of universities and industry growing together."
