Shim Hwaseop, Senior Vice Chairman of the Democratic Party of Korea Uijeongbu (Eul) District Committee, has been appointed as Special Advisor to Democratic Party of Korea Chairman Jeong Cheongrae.

Special Advisor Shim played a leading role in 2002 in the group "People Who Love Roh Moo-hyun" (Nosamo), founding the Uijeongbu Nosamo chapter and contributing to the election of President Roh Moo-hyun. In particular, during the impeachment crisis of President Roh Moo-hyun, he served as a bridge between civil society and the political sphere, playing a key role as a 'protector of Roh Moo-hyun.'

In 2003, Shim participated as a founding member of the civic organization "Life Politics Network People's Power" and, together with current Democratic Party of Korea Chairman Jeong Cheongrae, carried out various practical activities for "media reform, political reform, and national unity." During the 2007 presidential election, he worked on the campaign team for candidate Chung Dongyoung alongside current President Lee Jaemyung, and in the most recent presidential election, he contributed to Lee Jaemyung's victory as Deputy Director of the Citizens' Headquarters for the Revolution of Light within the campaign.

The Democratic Party of Korea expects Special Advisor Shim to serve as a bridge between the local and central levels, leveraging his extensive on-the-ground experience and organizational management skills gained through activities in Uijeongbu and nationwide. After his appointment, Special Advisor Shim stated, "We must secure victory in next year's local elections for the success of the Lee Jaemyung administration, the transformation and innovation of Uijeongbu, and, above all, to improve the quality of life for every citizen," adding, "I am willing to take on any role to ensure victory in the Uijeongbu local elections."

Special Advisor Shim holds both a master's and doctorate in electronic engineering from Sogang University. Since 1992, he has served as a professor in the Department of Electronic Engineering at Shinhan University in Uijeongbu and is currently the Dean of the College of Engineering at Shinhan University, contributing to the cultivation of local talent and science and technology education.
