Now, there is no need to wait at the bus stop without knowing when the bus will arrive.

The Ulsan City Government completed the “2025 Bus Information System (BIS) Expansion Project” on November 21, aiming to promote public transportation use among citizens and enhance the convenience of bus travel.

A total of 1 billion KRW was invested in this year’s project budget. In the first half of the year, new bus information terminals were installed at 60 bus stops located in areas with a high population of elderly residents who have difficulty using the internet or smartphone apps.

Additionally, 70 outdated bus information terminals at major city bus stops were replaced with the latest image-based equipment. This upgrade now allows for real-time bus location information, route searches, weather and news updates, English language conversion of bus information for foreign visitors, and the provision of city and national government announcements.

Furthermore, starting in July, a pilot project was launched to install solar-powered bus information terminals at 14 bus stops with limited power supply. As a result, not only were the costs for building electrical infrastructure and electricity bills reduced, but carbon emissions were also significantly decreased (by 1,935 kg CO2 annually, equivalent to planting 293 pine trees).

An official from Ulsan City stated, “We will continue to implement the ‘Bus Information System Expansion Project’ to further improve the convenience of public transportation for both citizens and visitors to Ulsan, and to realize an eco-friendly city worthy of hosting the International Garden Expo.”

Currently, bus information terminals are installed and operated at 1,790 out of approximately 3,400 bus stops in the Ulsan area.
