The Nursing Department at Kyungnam University held the 16th Nightingale Oath Ceremony at the Simyeon Hall in Hanma Future Center.
On November 19, 131 sophomore nursing students reaffirmed the noble spirit of Nightingale through a candle-lighting ceremony and oath led by student representatives, pledging to uphold respect for life and to dedicate themselves to the ethics and responsibilities of professional nurses before beginning their clinical practice.
The ceremony was attended by President Park Jaekyu, Dean of Student Affairs Jung Woochang, Dean of the College of Health and Welfare Kim Yongseong, Head of the Nursing Department Yang Seungkyung, as well as nursing students taking the oath and faculty members. Distinguished guests included Yoon Yeonok, Second Vice President of the Gyeongsangnam-do Nurses Association, and nursing department heads from local community medical institutions. Families and friends of the students also attended to congratulate and encourage them.
In his congratulatory address, President Park Jaekyu expressed his gratitude to nurses who stand by patients in various medical settings and extended his congratulations and encouragement to all 131 prospective nurses who have embraced Nightingale’s nursing spirit and sense of mission.
He went on to say, "Even in the rapidly changing healthcare environment, your seniors have always been the 'flame of hope' by the side of the people. I hope you will continue the noble path paved by your predecessors and practice noble love in healthcare settings both at home and abroad."
Meanwhile, the Nursing Department at Kyungnam University has established itself as an institution that produces professional nursing personnel equipped with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills through excellent on-campus education and high-quality clinical training at affiliated hospitals.
