Yeongdeok County in North Gyeongsang Province, which is facing the risk of population decline, has embraced the expertise of Seoul, a "tourism megacity."
On November 17, Yeongdeok County signed a "Business Agreement for Mutual Growth in Regional Tourism" with the Seoul Tourism Foundation in the main conference room on the 7th floor of Seoul Tourism Plaza. The purpose of the agreement is to strengthen cooperation and exchange between the two parties and to jointly promote the sustainable development and growth of the local tourism industry.

The two organizations agreed to join forces for the sustainable development of the regional tourism industry and to revitalize tourism exchange based on mutual cooperation.
Going forward, the two organizations plan to establish a cooperative framework for revitalizing local tourism, focusing on key areas such as sharing tourism information, building networks, and operating joint tourism promotion projects targeting both domestic and international tourists.
In particular, the agreement highlighted collaboration to globally promote Yeongdeok County's signature festivals-such as the Yeongdeok Snow Crab Festival, the Mulgajami Festival, and the Golden Sweetfish Festival-as well as the excellence of its marine and culinary tourism, with the goal of attracting tourists from Korea and abroad.
With the recent opening of the Donghae Jungbuseon Railway and the Pohang-Yeongdeok Expressway, which have significantly improved transportation accessibility, Yeongdeok County plans to actively implement tourism strategies to attract visitors from the Seoul metropolitan area, leveraging this agreement as an opportunity.
Governor Kim Kwangyeol stated, "I expect this agreement to serve as a model for cooperation in regional tourism development and to act as a catalyst for revitalizing the local economy," adding, "We will work closely with the Seoul Tourism Foundation to achieve tangible results."
