Gyeonggi Institute to Hold 'Gyeonggi GRAND-RISE Win-Win Growth Festa' at Yeonseong University on the 26th

The Gyeonggi Institute of Economic Science and Promotion will hold the 'Gyeonggi GRAND-RISE Win-Win Growth Festa' at the Yeongok Culture Center of Yeonseong University on November 26.

This event aims to share the vision of the 'Regional Innovation-Centered University Support System (RISE)' project promoted by Gyeonggi Province. It will bring together 67 RISE universities in the province, local governments, related organizations, and companies in one place to officially launch the creation of an industry-academia-government cooperation ecosystem.

RISE is an innovative project designed by the Ministry of Education to transfer the authority for university financial support to local governments, enabling them to foster talent tailored to regional needs.

In February of this year, Gyeonggi Province was selected as the top local government in the Ministry of Education's RISE evaluation and confirmed 34 universities and consortia (67 participating universities) in the province as RISE participating universities.

The main events of this year's Festa include the RISE participating university plaque presentation ceremony and the inauguration plaque ceremony for the G7 GAIA Cooperation Center. This will be followed by a vision declaration performance to announce the vision of the Gyeonggi RISE project.

Invited speakers include Kim Wooseung, former president of Hanyang University (on the mission of universities), and Park Cheolwoo, vice president of Korea Polytechnic University (on the Five Poles and Three Special Zones System and the direction of Gyeonggi RISE policy).

As side events, the Institute will provide capacity-building training for RISE project practitioners, host a matching day to promote collaboration between universities and related organizations in the province, and set up exhibition booths to showcase each university's achievements. The exhibition booths will introduce each university's industry-academia cooperation programs and business support outcomes. Student participation programs such as talk concerts, experience booths, and pop-up stores will also be operated.

Inaugural ceremonies will also be held for seven subcommittees, including the G7 Alliance, GX Alliance, talent development, and entrepreneurship. In addition, three organizations-the Gyeonggi Job Foundation, the Small and Medium Business Training Institute, and KOTITI Testing & Research Institute-will hold a matching day to discuss 69 cooperation needs.

Starting with this Festa, the Gyeonggi RISE Center will design a talent development system to respond to changes in regional industries linked to specialized projects in each city and county, and will expand collaborative models that directly connect university strengths to business needs.

Kim Hyungon, president of the Institute, said, "This Festa marks a meaningful starting point that signals the Gyeonggi-style RISE project is now on track," adding, "We will create a virtuous cycle ecosystem that closely connects university innovation capabilities and industry demand, leading to local talent development, employment and entrepreneurship opportunities, and regional settlement."
