This represents an increase of 227.9 billion KRW compared to the first supplementary budget. The general account has been increased by 225.5 billion KRW (16.1%) to 1.6269 trillion KRW, while the special account has been increased by 2.4 billion KRW (0.8%) to 318.1 billion KRW.
The supplementary budget includes 58 billion KRW for the "Livelihood Recovery Support Fund," which will provide 200,000 KRW per Suncheon citizen. The city has fully funded this with its own budget to help alleviate the burden on low-income residents and small business owners struggling with rising prices and an economic slowdown, and to revitalize the local economy. The funds have been prepared through increased revenue from major tourist attractions such as Suncheonman National Garden and through budget adjustments.
The city plans to distribute the support in December as soon as the supplementary budget is approved by the council, using the local currency "Suncheon Love Gift Certificate." The city expects this will directly boost local consumption, help small business sales recover, and support the stabilization of citizens' livelihoods, thereby creating a positive cycle in the local economy.
