Salvage of Han River Bus Stranded on Riverbed Postponed: "Difficult Due to Low Water Level"

The salvage operation for the Han River Bus, which became stranded on the riverbed near Jamsil Dock in Songpa-gu, Seoul, has been postponed.

Park Jinyoung, Head of the Future Han River Headquarters of the Seoul Metropolitan Government, met with reporters at Jamsil Dock on the 16th and stated, "The water level is too low to carry out the salvage today," adding, "The Future Han River Headquarters will brief the public later this afternoon on the salvage plan, the cause of the accident, and the response measures."

The vessel remains stationary at the accident site. Initially, the city had planned to move the vessel under its own power or with a tugboat during high tide, which was expected between 1 and 2 a.m. on this day.

An industry official at the scene said, "If we attempt to remove it carelessly, the vessel could be damaged, so we need to wait until the water level rises."

The Han River Bus operator plans to submit materials analyzing the cause of the accident, including CCTV footage, to the Seoul Metropolitan Government. At around 6:30 a.m. on this day, a diver was deployed to inspect the vessel involved in the accident.

Some citizens, who had not been informed in advance that the Han River Bus would not be stopping, visited Jamsil Dock only to turn back in succession.
