On this day, the city submitted its main budget proposal for next year to the city council, totaling 3.5174 trillion won, which is an increase of 185.6 billion won (5.57%) compared to this year's main budget.
Mayor Lee stated, "We will pursue strategic allocation of resources through selection and concentration, restructuring of expenditures, and effective fiscal management that citizens can truly feel."
According to next year's budget plan, the welfare sector was allocated 1.3399 trillion won, a 9.3% increase from this year. The focus is on welfare service projects that resonate with daily life, various infrastructure projects for elderly care, and initiatives that break down barriers between people with and without disabilities.
The transportation and logistics budget was set at 526.1 billion won, with a focus on opening bottleneck sections such as the completion of Bogae-Wonsam Road and maintaining existing roads.
The budget for culture, arts, tourism, and sports was set at 114.3 billion won, a 5.1% increase from this year, centering on the establishment and stabilization of a professional football club for citizens, expanding support for community sports, and promoting projects to develop the city as a hub for culture and the arts.
In particular, the city plans to accelerate large-scale projects to strengthen the competitiveness of the semiconductor industry next year. To this end, it will focus on establishing a mini-fab infrastructure linked to advanced semiconductor mass production. At the same time, it plans to strengthen support so that the semiconductor high school, which passed the Ministry of Education's central investment review last year, can open in March 2027 and later be converted into a Meister high school.
Mayor Lee also reaffirmed his commitment to establishing a core railway network. The plan is to ensure that the 5th National Railway Network Construction Plan includes: the creation of the Southern Gyeonggi Metropolitan Railway, the extension of the Gyeonggang Line, and the establishment of a new Semiconductor Line between Dongtan and Bubal. In particular, the city intends to expedite the groundbreaking of either the Gyeonggang Line extension or the alternative route, the Central Region Metropolitan Express Railway (JTX), as a private investment project.
