The long-awaited "Hope Nest" is finally opening its doors, aiming to ease the housing concerns of young people in Ulsan.
The city will begin accepting applications for residents of the U Home Yangjeong, a public rental housing project for youth, starting November 14, ahead of its official completion.
A total of 18 units will be available: 11 units with an exclusive area of 20 square meters and 7 units with 21 square meters. Among these, one unit is designated for residents with housing vulnerabilities, and one unit will be given priority to a young adult preparing for independence.
Youths who are Ulsan residents (or whose income base is in Ulsan) and do not own a home as of the application announcement date (November 14, 2025) may apply if they meet certain requirements.
Document applications will be accepted on November 28. The successful applicants will be announced on February 10, 2026, and move-in is scheduled to begin on February 24. Further details can be found on the Ulsan Urban Corporation website.
U Home Yangjeong is being constructed in Yangjeong-dong, Buk-gu, as a five-story building with a total floor area of 620 square meters.
Each unit will be equipped with a refrigerator, washing machine, induction cooktop, sink, and built-in wardrobe as standard features. In particular, each unit will have at least one seasonal storage space in the common area, compensating for the compact unit size and improving space efficiency.
The city stated, "Last year, we supplied 36 units in Seongan-dong and 38 units in Sinjeong-dong this year. In the first half of next year, we plan to provide 150 youth-oriented U Home units in six locations, including Yangjeong-dong and Samsan-dong, and in the second half, 48 new purchase-agreement U Home units in Seongan-dong. We will continue to promote the U Home project to enhance housing stability and satisfaction for young people."
Starting with Yangjeong, Ulsan City will also sequentially announce recruitment for residents of youth-oriented U Home units at four additional locations-Daldong, Samsan, Baekhap, and Taehwa-totaling 96 units in November.
