Unhae Scholarship Foundation Expands Selection of Science and Engineering Students and Students with Disabilities
SNT Affiliates Broaden Mutual Cooperation and Shared Growth with the Local Community
SNT affiliates are expanding their scholarship programs and participating in community contribution activities, focusing their efforts on mutual cooperation and shared growth.
The Unhae Scholarship Foundation, a public interest corporation established through donations from SNT affiliates, has decided to increase the number of science and engineering university students selected for scholarships starting next year. The foundation will also begin providing new scholarships to students with disabilities enrolled in special schools.
Additionally, a new academic research support program will be launched for graduate students dedicated to research and development in South Korea's key national industries. Through these initiatives, the Unhae Scholarship Foundation aims to strengthen support for both the revitalization of science and engineering R&D in South Korea and the living and educational needs of underprivileged groups.
The Unhae Scholarship Foundation was established in 2013 with a total capital of 30 billion won, contributed equally by Chairman Choi Pyungkyu of SNT, SNT Dynamics, and SNT Motiv. Following four additional rounds of donations, as of November 2025, the foundation's endowment has grown to 90 billion won, with total assets reaching 190 billion won.
Based on this foundation, since 2014, the Unhae Scholarship Foundation has annually selected outstanding science and engineering university students and provided them with Unhae Scholarships. Over the past 12 years, the total amount of scholarships awarded has reached 11.4 billion won, and approximately 1,480 students have been selected as Unhae Scholars. The foundation plans to significantly expand the number of Unhae Scholars in 2026, with the cumulative number of recipients expected to increase to around 2,000.
In addition, the Unhae Scholarship Foundation will newly launch an academic research support program for graduate students to contribute to enhancing the research and development capabilities of South Korean universities and the advancement of key national industries. The foundation plans to help build a sustainable ecosystem in research fields such as the automotive industry, defense industry, and power generation equipment industry, which are vital to South Korea's national interests.
A representative from a university in the Seoul metropolitan area stated, "While there are many scholarship programs that support undergraduate tuition, scholarships supporting graduate students' research activities are rare. The Unhae Scholarship Foundation's academic research support program is expected to greatly contribute to revitalizing R&D in science and engineering and advancing South Korea's industries."
SNT affiliates are also continuing to expand their social contribution activities in various fields, pursuing mutual cooperation and shared growth with the local community.
SNT Dynamics actively participates in history and cultural tours with local youth, music concerts and cultural events for local residents, and 'One Company, One Village' sisterhood programs, making various efforts to foster harmony and strengthen ties as a local company in Changwon. The company is also actively fulfilling its social responsibilities as a national defense contractor by supporting veterans exposed to defoliants and their families, as well as participating in career counseling programs for children of military personnel.
SNT Motiv, as a local company in Busan, is actively engaged in supporting socially marginalized groups in the region, including through the Community Chest of Korea's 'Fruit of Love' campaign, as well as supporting welfare centers for people with disabilities and senior centers. In addition, the company is actively involved in environmental improvement activities such as the 'One Company, One Stream' initiative, demonstrating a strong commitment to ESG activities across various fields.
An SNT representative emphasized, "As leading local companies in the Busan and Gyeongnam regions, SNT affiliates are continuously pursuing social contribution activities that contribute to community development and giving back to society. We are committed to fulfilling our corporate social responsibilities as we grow together with the local community."
