Opticore announced on November 13 that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for cooperation in developing AI (artificial intelligence)-focused server infrastructure with a Southeast Asia-based global hardware specialist.

The counterpart, ServerOn Sdn. Bhd. (hereafter referred to as ServerOn), is a company specializing in the distribution, installation, and service of data center hardware. Based in Malaysia, ServerOn plans to expand its operations throughout Southeast Asia.

This agreement is a strategic collaboration aimed at leading the rapidly growing AI data center infrastructure market. The two companies are targeting the establishment of integrated server, storage, and networking infrastructure optimized for AI workloads. Accordingly, they plan to pursue joint research and development (R&D) and market entry strategies. Specifically, the partnership will cover: ▲ Planning and architectural design of AI server infrastructure ▲ Joint development of hardware for AI data centers ▲ Building joint business models to expand into the Southeast Asia (SEA) market.

ServerOn maintains close partnerships with global server manufacturers. Its main clients include subsidiaries of Quanta Computer and ASUS brands.

In particular, Quanta Computer is the parent company of Quanta Cloud Technology (QCT), which manufactures AI servers in collaboration with NVIDIA. Quanta is ranked among the world’s top three original design manufacturers (ODMs), supplying servers to global big tech companies such as HP, Dell, Google, and Amazon. Through its own brand, QCT (Quanta Cloud Technology), it provides integrated server, storage, and networking solutions to major hyperscalers and large data center customers, including Google, Amazon Web Services (AWS), and Microsoft.

Opticore is a company specializing in the design of AI data center infrastructure and high-speed connectivity technologies, leveraging its accumulated expertise in high-speed optical communication and network solutions. Opticore independently develops and manufactures high-speed optical transceivers and module solutions that maximize the efficiency of large-scale data transmission between AI servers and GPUs. In addition, it provides networking architectures optimized for the demands of AI workloads.

A ServerOn representative stated, "With demand for AI infrastructure growing explosively, we expect strong synergy between Opticore’s optical communication technology and ServerOn’s global distribution capabilities," adding, "We believe we can build a high-performance AI server infrastructure ecosystem optimized for the Asian market." Based on technology exchange and joint R&D, the two companies plan to commercialize AI server and data center solutions and enter the Southeast Asian market after 2026.
