Black Comedy "Macbeth Report 2025" Explores the Origins of Power

At Yeonhui Arts Theater from November 27 to 30

The theater troupe Baba Circus announced that it will stage "Macbeth Report 2025" from November 27 to 30 at the Yeonhui Arts Theater in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul.

"Macbeth Report 2025" is an experimental black comedy that dissects the origins of power. Based on Shakespeare's classic "Macbeth," the play explores the power structures of human society through the lens of the political instincts found in chimpanzee groups. It depicts the transformation of a former hero who rises to become a "national leader," then a "tyrant," and ultimately reverts to a beast. The actors blur the boundaries between humans and chimpanzees, exposing the true face of modern politics.

The troupe explained that the performance does not ask "who holds power," but rather "why do we desire it?" The production invites the audience to directly participate in this experiment on the evolution of power.

The play is recreated and directed by Lee Eunjin, with Sim Jaewook serving as co-director. The cast includes Choi Juhyun, Kim Bona, Kim Eojin, Lim Huijin, Park Sungmin, Sim Anna, Shin Yuseung, Kim Haram, Lee Sanghun, Baek Seungyeon, Jang Hwansuk, Hyun Yunseop, Choi Woojong, and Kwon Hyukjin.

Further details about the performance can be found on Baba Circus's official Instagram account.

This production has been selected for the "Nighttime Performance Admission Ticket" program, an initiative by the Seoul Metropolitan Government that designates every Friday as "Nighttime Performance Viewing Day," allowing citizens to enjoy high-quality performances for 10,000 won. Accordingly, tickets for the November 28 performance can be purchased for 10,000 won through the Daehakro Ticket website. Tickets for other performances are available through NOL Ticket.
