Samsung Electronics has been re-designated with the highest grade, 'AAA', in the 'Compliance Program' for strategic goods by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.
The Compliance Program for Strategic Goods is a certification system granted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy to companies with outstanding export and import management capabilities. On November 10, Samsung Electronics announced that it received high marks in this re-designation for the CEO's commitment to compliance, strengthening of the dedicated export control organization, and the introduction of a system to detect high-risk transactions.
Strategic goods refer to essential items such as semiconductors and network equipment, whose export and import are controlled for national security reasons. Administrative procedures are required to obtain export permits for these items.
Since 2014, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy has operated the Compliance Program for Strategic Goods as a three-tier system (A, AA, AAA) to enhance transparency and efficiency in the export of strategic goods, while also strengthening companies' export management capabilities.
Companies designated under the Compliance Program receive administrative benefits such as shortened export permit review periods and simplified documentation requirements.
Since the implementation of the Compliance Program, Samsung Electronics has continuously maintained the highest grade, AAA.
The grade for the Compliance Program is determined based on various evaluation criteria, including strategic goods classification, internal control systems, export transaction reviews, information security management, and employee training. The designation is valid for three years.
Samsung Electronics plans to continue its efforts to solidify its status as a responsible trade partner that meets the demands of the international community and contributes to the stabilization of the global supply chain.
