In response to the recent surge in wildfires caused by climate change and other factors, the Ulsan Jungbu Fire Station has launched practical, village-level response training in collaboration with local residents.
To protect the critical "golden time" in wildfire response, which cannot be fully secured by the fire department alone, this training focuses on maximizing residents' initial fire suppression capabilities. The training will be conducted sequentially through November 12 in four villages within the jurisdiction: Hwangam, Pungam, Gilchon, and Seongdong.
The training emphasizes enabling residents to respond quickly in the event of an actual fire by conducting hose operation drills using emergency fire equipment boxes together with local residents.
In particular, practical hose operation drills using smoke grenades were conducted in parallel, further enhancing on-site response capabilities and proficiency in equipment operation.
Through this training, the Jungbu Fire Station aims to establish a "resident-participatory autonomous response system" and to encourage active use of emergency fire equipment boxes installed in the villages, so that residents can take part in initial fire suppression efforts.
An official from the Jungbu Fire Station stated, "Due to recent dry weather advisories and strong winds, the risk of wildfires is increasing. By conducting practical training with residents, we will strengthen our initial response capabilities and minimize damage caused by wildfires."
