BS Hanyang Accelerates LNG Value Chain Business... Ridgepole Raising Ceremony at Yeosu Terminal

First Purely Commercial Terminal in Korea
1.4 Trillion Won Project to Be Completed by 2027
Transitioning from Construction Firm to Comprehensive Energy Company

BS Hanyang, well known for its housing brand 'Sujain', announced on the 6th that the special purpose corporation Northeast Asia LNG Hub Terminal recently held a ridgepole raising ceremony for the roof of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) storage tank at the construction site on Myodo Island, Yeosu City, Jeollanam-do. This process involves lifting a massive steel roof, constructed on the tank floor, using air pressure and welding it into place-a core step in the construction of large-scale LNG storage facilities.

The event was attended by major figures including Kim Youngrok, Governor of Jeollanam-do; Assemblyman Joo Cheolhyeon; Jeong Taeseong, Director of the Yeosu Regional Office of Oceans and Fisheries; and Choi Jeonggi, Deputy Mayor of Yeosu. The Northeast Asia LNG Hub Terminal is a special purpose corporation established by BS Hanyang, GS Energy, Jeollanam-do, and Yeosu City for the construction and operation of the Yeosu 'Northeast Asia LNG Hub Terminal.' This LNG terminal is a private sector-led project with a total investment of 1.4 trillion won. It began in earnest after being selected as part of the government's 'Regional Revitalization Investment Fund' initiative in September last year.

The Northeast Asia LNG Hub Terminal is being developed on a site of approximately 270,000 square meters (83,000 pyeong) within the Myodo Port Redevelopment Area in Yeosu City. The first phase will include three 200,000-kiloliter LNG storage tanks, a dedicated pier for 100,000-ton vessels, transport pipelines, and regasification and delivery facilities, with completion targeted for the end of 2027. In the second phase, an additional 200,000-kiloliter tank will be added. After completion, starting in 2028, the terminal is expected to supply 3 million tons of LNG annually to the Yeosu-Gwangyang Bay National Industrial Complex.

The company is broadening its business scope beyond construction to become a comprehensive energy enterprise, with projects including the Yeosu LNG Terminal, Solaseado Solar Power, Haechangman and Goheungman Floating Solar Power Plants, and the Gwangyang Biomass Power Plant.
