Democratic Party Leader Jeong Cheongrae Vows to Usher in Era of Party Member Sovereignty in Sejong and Daejeon

Jeong Cheongrae, leader of the Democratic Party, delivered a special lecture for the joint party member training of the Daejeon and Sejong city branches held at Hannam University on November 4.

That afternoon, Jeong stated, "If President Lee Jaemyung has ushered in an era of national sovereignty, I will open the era of party member sovereignty," expressing a strong determination to secure victory in the upcoming local elections.

Jeong emphasized that "the first gateway to proving the success of the Lee Jaemyung administration is the first-year local elections," and added, "We will hold the most democratic primary with the most democratic candidates." He further commented, "Through the recent APEC Summit, Korea's diplomatic and economic leadership was highly recognized on the international stage," and assessed, "The integrative leadership and pragmatic diplomacy demonstrated by President Lee Jaemyung have become the starting point for Korea to once again become a trusted nation."

He continued, "The achievements of the Lee Jaemyung administration, which has been recognized as a successful government on the international stage through the APEC Summit, must now be completed among the people," and pledged, "Through victory in the local elections, we will spread the results of government reform and national unity throughout the country."

Jeong also presented a plan to fully open an era in which party members have 100% authority to select candidates, building upon the "railroad of party member sovereignty" laid during President Lee Jaemyung's tenure as party leader. He stressed that a truly democratic party is one in which the members, not the leadership, are the true owners.

Meanwhile, the lecture was attended by major figures including National Assembly members from the Chungcheong region, as well as around 500 party members from the Daejeon and Sejong areas.
